Contractor calls start on the map. Is yours ready?

A free one-page check of your Google listing, your phone and your website, for roofers, HVAC companies and other trades around Louisville, from Tony Short.

Call 502-727-2010 or ask for the check below.

The weather picks your busy days

A hail storm, a week of ninety-degree heat, the first hard cold snap. Searches pile up in an afternoon, and people tap the first name on the map that looks real and has a number. Whatever's wrong with your listing that day stays wrong until the rush is over.

So the check happens while the phone is quiet.

Where a contractor's calls leak

Picture the call from the customer's side:

  1. They search “AC repair near me,” or “roofer” plus the town.
  2. They see three names on the map and pick one that looks real.
  3. They tap Call.
  4. It rings somewhere. Or it doesn't.
  5. Somebody answers, or it goes to voicemail and they tap the next name.

Each step can lose the job. The check looks at all five.

What's on your one page

  • Your main category. “HVAC contractor” or “Roofing contractor,” not a vague “Contractor.”
  • Your service list, in the words a homeowner says: “AC not cooling,” “furnace won't start,” “roof leak.”
  • Your hours, especially in the weeks you run late.
  • The number on the listing, and whether it's the one you actually answer.
  • Your service area. The towns you really drive to, not a padded list.
  • A second listing. Common after a move or a name change, and it splits your reviews.
  • Your reviews: how recent, and whether anybody replies.
  • Your website on a phone: can a customer tap the number in two seconds?
  • Your photos: your trucks and your work, or someone else's.
  • Whether your name and number match on the big directories.

Three get circled. You can fix most of them yourself.

Or I fix it and keep it up

You send me a photo from the job. I turn it into a post on your listing, you OK it, it goes up. I answer your reviews so you don't have to do it from the truck at 9 at night. That's the Google Profile Starter: one setup fee, then a flat monthly, month to month.

What I don't sell

No ads. No lead marketplaces. No leads shared with three other companies. And I won't promise you a number of calls, a spot on the map or a date. What I work on is the part in your hands: the listing, the website and the reviews.

Then somebody has to pick up

A strong listing doesn't help if the phone goes to voicemail every afternoon. If that's you, the check will say so. Sometimes the best fix is a greeting that says when you'll call back, and then doing it.

Contractor questions

I'm a roofer, not HVAC. Does this fit?

Yes. Storm season works like a heat wave does for HVAC. Same listing, same map, same problem.

Do you sell leads?

No. The calls you get from your own listing and website are yours. They don't go to anyone else.

I already pay for leads somewhere else. Should I stop?

That's your call. Ask every caller how they found you for a month, with a notepad by the phone. You'll see which source is earning its keep.

Can you get me in the top three?

Nobody can promise that. I'll tell you what's in the way and what I'd fix first.

I'm on jobs all day. How much of my time does this take?

The free check takes the minute it takes to fill in the form. If you go with the Starter after, it's about five minutes a week: send me photos when you think of it, and answer one email.
